On 7 and 8 July 2017, the annual Summit of the Heads of State and Government of the Group of Twenty (G20) will take place under German Presidency in Hamburg. In addition to issues related to global economic growth and financial market regulation, an important focus of the G20 Summit will be health.
For the first time, the science and research community is included into the G20 process as “Science 20”. Under the leadership of the German National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina, the science academies of the G20 countries are developing scientific recommendations on improving global health.
On 22 March 2017, the results of this scientific cooperation will be presented at the Science 20 Dialogue Forum in Halle, Germany. Together with the presidents of the national science academies, Leopoldina Foreign Secretary Ursula Staudinger will hand over the official recommendations to German Chancellor Dr. Angela Merkel.
